Frame App 7.0.28 (Tech Preview #2)

Added:

  • Upgraded to Electron version 25.1.0.

  • [Windows] [macOS] Ability to enable/disable auto-update.

  • User preferences Reset option will reset the values in the configuration window. Users can Save the configuration or Cancel.

  • Administrators can now centrally configure and enforce the following settings via registry keys and configuration files. Please check our documentation for configuration details.

    • STARTUP_URL

    • CHECK_FOR_UPDATES_ON_STARTUP

    • ENABLE_CAMERA

    • ENABLE_MICROPHONE

  • Administrators can now configure and enforce the following settings via command line arguments. Please check our documentation for configuration details.

    • --startup-url

    • --check-for-updates-on-startup

    • --enable-camera

    • --enable-microphone

  1. With Frame App 7.0, each command line argument must have a corresponding value so that administrators can force an OFF value.
  2. Settings configured via registry keys, preferences.plist, and preferences.conf take precedence over command line arguments.
  3. Users will be unable to change settings from the Frame App GUI if they are configured via registry keys, preferences.plist, and preferences.conf or command line arguments.

Known Limitations:

  • [Linux] No ability to auto-update (this is by design).

  • [macOS] No kiosk mode support.

  • No clear local cache feature.

  • No support for FIDO2/WebAuthn hardware authentication tokens.
