Frame Platform 08-24-2025

NOTICE: This release is planned for Sunday, August 24, 2025.

Frame Console 4.35.0

Added:

  • Improved behavior when attaching an SGA during account creation.

  • Administrators can now register Virtual Machines (VMs) with persistent Frame accounts, even if the VMs were not originally created or managed in Frame. To do this, open the VMs page in a persistent Frame account and select Import Workloads. Enter the number of workloads to register, and you'll receive the Registration Code and Backplane URL required for registration.

Register the VM to your Frame account by running the Frame Agent Setup Tool (FAST). Once registered, you can manage it through the Console. FAST can be downloaded from https://docs.dizzion.com/downloads The VM registration function is available in the FAST user interface, and can also be executed from the command line using the following parameters:

frameagentsetuptool.exe install frameimage except liquidware  registrationcode={code} registrationurl={url}

The required FAST bundle version is 9.4.1.0. If that bundle is not already available, please use the following command to install it:

frameagentsetuptool.exe install bundle=9.4.1.0

For more information or assistance, please contact the Support team.

Fixed:

  • Fixed an issue where accounts were not displayed when cloning from backup, while they were visible when cloning a sandbox.

Frame Terminal v7.1.0

Added:

  • The terminal labels in the Settings → Sessions page have been updated for improved clarity and easier navigation.

This change only affects the names of the labels shown in the console, no functionality or configurations are changing automatically.

  • All customers using Current will now see the label Legacy. Your setup remains exactly the same, only the label name is different.

  • Next Gen is now the recommended terminal for all customers going forward. We encourage you to move to this version whenever possible.

  • Previous will always refer to the prior Next Gen version.

  • Experimental is reserved for testing custom builds and should only be used in coordination with Dizzion Support.

Note: Aside from the label names, nothing in your environment or workflows will change automatically.

CCA 4 - Early Access to Generally Available

CCA 4 is now GA (Generally Available) and fully supported - the "EA" label has been removed.

The download link for CCA 3 has been removed. CCA 4 can be downloaded: https://docs.dizzion.com/downloads

Note: If the CCA 3 ISO is required for HA deployments in existing CCA 3 environments, please contact Support.

Linux Desktop support for Ubuntu 24.04 Desktop is now in Early Access.

Windows Server 2019 Image Family EOL Announcement

We are announcing the planned end-of-life (EOL) of the Windows Server 2019 Image Family for use as Frame workload VMs across all supported infrastructure platforms.

This process will happen in two phases:

  • Phase 1: April 19, 2025

    • Customers will no longer be able to create new Accounts using the Windows Server 2019 Image Family. Existing Accounts using Windows Server 2019 will be unaffected and customers will continue to be supported.
  • Phase 2: July 31, 2025

    • Accounts using the Windows Server 2019 Image Family will no longer be supported by Frame and user sessions to these Accounts may be impacted.

Customers currently using the Windows Server 2019 Image Family should begin the process of creating and migrating to new Accounts using either Windows Server 2022 or Windows Server 2025.

Frame Authentication Now Integrated with Dizzion C3

We are excited to announce that Frame now supports Dizzion C3 as an authentication provider!

Administrators can now use the same credentials they use to access support.dizzion.com and c3.dizzion.com to access Frame. See instructions here on how to enable Dizzion C3 as an authentication provider for Frame.

note

Currently, you must have the Frame Customer Admin role assigned in Dizzion C3 to access Frame. Users with this role will automatically be assigned the Customer Administrator role within Frame. Please contact your Dizzion Customer Success Manager or csm@dizzion.com if you believe you should have this role.

What’s included in this announcement:

  • Admin Access to Frame from the Dizzion C3 Portal
  • Deprecation of My Nutanix as an Authentication Provider
  • What does this mean for me?

New Frame Stateless Driver Migration Phase 1: Windows 11 and Windows Server 2022 Accounts

We previously announced the deployment of our new Frame stateless driver (OFS) to all Frame Accounts. This process is now complete, and we are ready to begin enabling the new driver in a phased approach.

The first Frame Accounts that will begin utilizing the new driver will be any non-persistent accounts using either a Windows 11 or Windows Server 2022 base image (this is applicable across all Early Adopter, Standard, and Trailing deployment groups).

These accounts will be migrated to OFS on Monday, September 2, 2024. By default, only the Sandbox VM for each account will have OFS enabled. Production pool VMs will not be migrated to OFS until a Publish is run. Any new Windows 11 or Windows Server 2022 non-persistent accounts created after September 2, 2024, will automatically utilize OFS.

New Frame Stateless Driver for Non-Persistent Windows VMs

We are excited to announce the upcoming GA release of our new stateless driver (OFS)! This new driver will be replacing our existing stateless mechanism for non-persistent Windows VMs, bringing enhanced security and performance.

Effective August 15, 2024, we have begun including the new OFS driver with all new Frame Agent releases. The driver will be installed but disabled. Currently, all Frame Accounts in the Early Adopters deployment group (Dashboard > Settings > Deployment Group) have received the new driver. We plan to deploy the driver to all remaining accounts within the next 1-2 weeks. Once the driver is fully deployed, we will then begin enabling the driver in a phased approach (stay tuned for a separate announcement on timing).

New and Improved Launchpad Experience!

We are excited to announce that starting with our upcoming Frame platform release on April 21, 2024, we will begin to roll out our newly redesigned Launchpad experience to an initial subset of customers. We expect to fully roll out the new Launchpad to all remaining customers as part of our scheduled platform release on May 12, 2024.

Azure NV Series EOL Announcement

Microsoft has announced the upcoming retirement of their legacy NV and NV_Promo series instance types on August 31, 2023. These instance types were originally released on December 1, 2016 with Frame being the first DaaS solution on the market to support these instances at their launch. These instances all leverage NVIDIA Tesla M60 GPUs (Maxwell Architecture).

As a result, customers with Frame Accounts deployed on Microsoft Azure will no longer be able to use the following instance types after August 31, 2023:

  • Pro 56GB (Standard_NV6)
  • Pro 224GB (Standard_NV24)

Frame customers utilizing these instance types are advised to migrate to one of the more modern NVIDIA or AMD instance types that are recommended by Microsoft as soon as possible to avoid user impact.
